XAdES (XML Advanced Electronic Signatures)
An ETSI standard that extends XML Digital Signatures (XML-DSig) with the timestamp, certificate chain, and long-term validation properties tax authorities require for e-invoice signing.
More Details
XAdES is the signature profile used by ZATCA Phase 2, by HMRC MTD (for digital records), and by most Peppol BIS Billing 3.0 country specialisations. The XAdES-BES baseline binds the signer's certificate to the invoice XML; XAdES-T adds a trusted timestamp; XAdES-LT/-A add long-term archival validity.
